Footprints youngsters step out in style.
A fun-filled graduation provided one of the highlights for more than 30 children who celebrated their final day at one of Macclesfield's oldest established day nurseries. Footprints Day Nursery organised a colourful procession from its Cumberland Street premises to Macclesfield Methodist Church where each child, wearing a gown and mortar board was presented with their leaving certificates by nursery founder, Margaret Huntington. Most of the leavers, now aged over four years, have been at the nursery since 2005 and after the summer holidays will go on to join primary schools throughout the area. Three generations of the Huntington family are currently involved in running Footprints Day Nursery which provides a family atmosphere for boys and girls from four months to five years. The day also saw the official opening by Margaret Huntington of a garden discovery area that will provide future generations of Footprints children with a welcome new learning opportunity. 'It's always sad to say goodbye to children who we've got to know so well and who we've seen develop from babies into toddlers with an insatiable zest for life and a passion for learning,' said Margaret. Next month sees another major milestone for Macclesfield's favourite day nursery when it unveils a new, purpose built Pre School unit, representing a further investment of over £100,000.
One of the most oversubscribed day nurseries in Macclesfield, Footprints was classed as 'outstanding' in a number of areas during last year's OFSTED inspection.
