Footprints Children Learn how to Stay Safe
Every Monday morning our children in the Bollington pre School room tell Roger the Robot, their special friend, what they have been doing during the weekend. Last Monday we discovered that Roger was missing.
The children asked the staff if they had seen him and wondered where he could be. Kayleigh had seen him getting sun cream out of the store cupboard and Margaret had a telephone call from the railway station to say they had seen a robot boarding a train. There was then an in depth discussions as to where he had gone and the children had to piece together the clues to help find him.
The police then visited the nursery and spoke to the children about health and safety and how to take care of themselves. The children then explored their police van and were shown CCTV footage. The police officer said she would make sure if she had any information she would be in touch.
Roger the Robert returned from Shell Island where he decided very quickly to go for a holiday and was very sorry for not telling anyone where he was going. He said "I did not think". He is now back in the Pre School at Bollington and enjoying the children's stories.
The children all had great fun and understood why we need to keep safe at all times.
